Although we are in our summer break we all like to help people and organizations within our town. Our local squash club is recruiting for new members, its a perfect way to learn the sport, to have some fun and to take part in Summer activities, especially now the summer school holidays are approaching.
Why not reach out and see how they can help you as they are looking for ages five to eleven to come along and enjoy the fun.

As part of St Helens culture and everyday life our photographers like to take part in the everyday life and events in St Helens. Non so important than the Parish church being elevated to a Minster.

Jimmy Lowe – A photographer
We are so sad to announce our long-standing member Jimmy has passed away.
He was the heart and soul of the club, always ready with advice a laugh and a warm
welcome to any new members.
Will you please join us in celebrating his life and work.
We present his portfolio though the years. Jimmy always was a feature in our
competitions and without fail his work was praised and recognized not just in our club
but across our network.
Jimmy’s family has given their permission for us to present this gallery in his name.
We send our deepest condolences to his family.
Please enjoy his considerable photographic talent.
So we arrive at our final Open competition of the 2025/2026 season we were treated to photographs taken from across the world. From the local historic landscapes and land marks of the UK we traveled to the exotic lands of the far East.
Our Judge was very hard pressed to select his winners form the competition and we do thank Judge Danny Jackson for his wonderful comments and advice.
One of our most popular competitions of the season are Landscapes, there is a deep connection between the photographer and the landscape we photograph. It could be a traditional Landscape, or a feature deep in the heart of a cityscape or the features on our nearest neighbor the Moon.
Our competition was judged by the knowledgeable Mr Steve Hitchen EPAGB AFIAP BPE5 who provided his usual wonderful advice. Many thanks to Judge Hitchen for making the night such a success.
What a first half to the season, we held Fashion exhibitions, held a three part portrait workshop, our practical night was an introduction to Macro Photography.
With the release of Affinity free software on of our experts gave a full tutorial on post production and compositing using the software.
Of course we held our traditional competitions and we must thanks all our judges who gave wonderful advice to out members.
Of course this is only the first half of our year, there is more to follow when we return on the 5th January 2026.
Why not start the New Year by joining our great community, hope to see you in 2026.
St Helens Camera Club wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year,

The nature competition is always a highly competitive one and our 2025 season is no exception. We were presented by some incredible pictures and we are certain our Judge Chris Boyes CPAGB was challenged to choose a winner on the night.
This year has been one of our more active years we have produced quite a number of exhibitions and practical nights.
One of the most successful was our recent Macro Night. We had quite a few of our expert photographers who shared their equipment and knowledge to allow us all to experience the world of Macro Photography.
One of our expert tutors on the night was Thomas Stott who produced these images.
