On Monday 7th April 2025 we are hosting the Inter-Mersey competition with our respected Judge Martin Pickles.

Why not come along to see some of the most prestigious photographs taken by Merseyside photographers.

Doors open at 1930hrs for a prompt 2000hrs start

This will be our last formal meeting of the 2024/2025 season. However, we have a full summer months program in place.

So, if you have ever desired to learn how to use that DSLR camera lying in your bag, or how to creatively use your smart phone camera. then why not join us at one of our Summer get togethers.

Indeed, if there are any 35mm film camera users out there, we would love to see you at one of our meetings.

Our AGM will be next Monday and with a Summer of activities ahead we hope to see everyone soon, perhaps come along to one of our closed season get togethers. at our regular club house.

We are always looking to expand what we do, not just with photography but also how we can incorporate the art form in different ways. Its always sad to arrive at our last competition of the season, however withthe assistace of our Judge John Riley, we have cemented our understanding of what we can achieve with the assistance of great advice and critique. As we approach the remaining competitions in our club year, it’s always a pleasure to see how our members capture the land as the year turns. This year was no exception, we were presented with some outstanding entries, and with the help and advice of Chris Boyes BPAGB. Who provided his usual high standard of advice and comments we ended the evening with some wonderful pictures. Many thanks to Judge Boyes for his efforts.

We thought that to start 2025 we would like to offer each of our members a chance to celebrate the place where they live and so this competition was created. Our Judge for this one was Steve Hitchen EPAGB AFIAP BPE5 and as usual he provided some wonderful advice and comments on our pictures. the results are presented below and as we have now resolved our issue with the software we can once more provide pictures to our gallery, why not pop along to the Gallery page to see our entries and celebrate our towns along with us.

St Helens Camera Club.

Its always one of the highlights of the year when we arrive at our Nature competition, and as usual it did not disappoint. Our Judge Terry Hewitt was treeated to some amazing shots and provided his insights and comments in a friendly and professional manor, for which we thank him.

On Monday 18th of November 2024 we will be exploring how to edit your photos with Affinity Photo.

At the time of publishing this post Serif (the publishers of Affinity Photo are offering a six months free trial of the software for you to explore and edit your images.

One of our members as used the editor since its inception and has produced work, which has been internationally published, has been submitted to clients and is to be seen across magazines and artwork. We will be working together on a single image taking it from a RAW file to a fully processed Jpeg, You will have the opportunity to work alongside the tutor on your own laptop, you will then be able to retain the working .af file to take away with you and study how you created the images and hopefully produce your own version.

You will then be able to download the working file via a link

We welcome our Judge for the night Eddie Leach DPAGB who in his opening comments presents himself as a novice Judge, we can assure anyone that Mr Leach is anything but. He provided a lifetimes worth of constructive comments, advice and stories which proves once and for all that Eddie Leach is one of our most respected Judges. Thank you for a perfect nights Judging.
